So, here we are with the first batch of answers from last week's Q&A.
Sergeant Varn's t-shirt is an inside joke: Alcoolica was my husband's metal band (a Metallica tribute of course, he sang and played rhythm guitar). I commissioned custom picks with that logo for him. Varn was heavily inspired to James Hetfield, so it felt appropriate.
I inverted questions 3 and 4 because it made more sense to answer them in this order.
They're soldiers, not scientists, so they called for backup.
Since Adrian's reference model is actor Ed Bishop, aka Commander Straker, I couldn't help giving him a Nehru jacket. :D
Last question was the hardest. It required a lot of thinking and a crash course in bullet physics. (Yeah, that gun is based on the Desert Eagle. I just love the aesthetics.)
My characters will answer more questions in part II, next week. Thank you!

Mmm yeah Aranay women

Limited short range telepathy, does that including reading peoples minds against their will? Not sure if it just means they can non verbally soeak intopeoples minds. Maybe they can tell if people are lying or if there are keeping something secret?

I also love how you draw ophelia in color, i never noticed her gills tho, i guess because of her hair, so i guess her green hair and lips are because of her species not just an anime style aesthetic choice? Same for the purple hair guy?

Wow this was incredible and beautiful.

I lpve the way you worked everything into real conversations that were corny and wall breaking but also natural, really great

Etelyr telepathy is limited as in "easily blocked even by a well trained individual without powers". Usually, they can project their thoughts but reading minds requires an effort from the other part. Otherwise, they just get impressions. They COULD detect a lie, if the lying person is very obviously worried about it. Powerful telepaths like Helyss are on a totally different level, but that's not a racial ability.
You never noticed Ophelia's gills, probably, because of the high-collared uniform she wears in nearly all of her panels. (And sometimes I just forget to draw them XD)
I'm glad you appreciated the conversation, usually I leave free reign to my characters in this kind of things and they just do what they want. :D

WOW! What an amazing response to my questions!
I certainly did not expect an illustrated answer as exhaustive as this one!
I will refer back to this page anytime I need to refresh my memory about all the questions I asked.
Great stuff!

First, that's what tends to happen when I throw a question at my characters and let them come up with a reply. Probably they are all split parts of my brain and I think better that way XD
Second, it was about time I explained how things work in my universe. You had very interesting questions that allowed me to do so, so thank you for the opportunity.

OK. I need you to do one last thing for me please.
And, it would be awesome if you could even create a tab at the top of your comic for this one!
Please illustrate a planetary Space Map of The Altarion Empire!
It doesn't have to be that complicated, just some spheres with a few quick details in them, a name, description, and of course there relative position to the other planets...
This would really help to put the setting of your comic into perspective!
Please do it!
Thanks :)

Well, it's actually more complicated than it sounds, because, huh, the wormholes they use for interstellar travel are kinda whimsy... However, there is a map of sorts that shows at least the space sectors controlled by the 50 governments that have a seat in the Council. I just need to make a readable copy, because the one I use for reference is kinda obscure ^^;

I uploaded the galactic map. The Solarian Kingdom is marked in yellow, its allies are marked in green, pink areas are friendly/neutral, while those marked in red tend to be aggressive to neighbours. The two green dots are Anthalia (planet Anthalanor's star system, current capital of the Empire) and Amathial, the old capital.

What is "The Void Barrier"?

Un... That was explained in Altarion.
It's the part of the Galaxy that cannot be reached anymore due to all the leys (wormholes necessary for Interstellar travel) collapsing as a result of the Taladaar war. I should add a note.
I didn't draw the map anyway, just added my names and stuff on a convenient Milky Way image. It's the only one I found that shows Earth's position.
It's temporary, though. I'm working on a more readable one, using an image of the galaxy from Space Engine. I paid for that software, might as well make good use of it. XD

EDIT: Swapped with the new map and added some notes. Refresh if you don't see the changes.

The second question leads me to a follow-up question:
Are the aliens in this universe really alien aliens, or did they all long ago evolve from Earth humans?

Also, the explanation about the Kainal eyes kinda would also work for Lora in my comic: Soon we'll see her taking off her glasses upon changing to mermaid form, thus implying that her eyes are in fact better adapted for water...

They didn't evolve from humans: it was the other way around.
In my timeline, millions of years ago the people from planet Amathial - the race of Emperor Shaix, and the Taladaar everyone references but no one explains - explored the whole galaxy throught the "leys". Since their race was dying, they altered the DNA of many bipedal races they met to make them more similar to themselves and hopefully cross-breed. Their plan worked, and terrans, kainal, anthirans etc. are the result. They created the first galactic empire.
At a certain point in the relative past, the Taladaar War led to the collapse of the empire, and many planets (including Earth) regressed due to catastrophic events and isolation. Technology was forgotten for a period, and the reason why in the present they have interstellar travel again is probably due to explorers from some other galactic sector.
I'm pretty sure Terrans and Hamalians are actually the same race, but they don't remember it.

Uh, there are also alien aliens, lots of them. The Taladaar altered only a small part of the available alien species, those that had a similar biology and structure. (I believe in evolutionary convergence, by the way.)

Funny, I didn't think about the reason for Lora's glasses, but it's pretty obvious now!

To echo what chris-tar said, this is a page that I'm going to refer to often.
There's a lot of lore to learn here and I can see that'll be well worth it!

Yasss, lore time! :D So much envy for the ability to breathe and sleep underwater without your skin turning into a dried plum ;___; And ooohh, mixed ancestry? I'm intrigued! :D

Last but not least: the Alcoolica shirt. I love it :'D
